Owu - Akinale stool: Chief Oluseyi Ayodeji Adewole Adediran emerges Monarch -elect

  



The Akinlagun of Owu Kingdom,and a Marketing Doyen , Chief Dr. Oluseyi  Ayodeji Adewole Adediran, has emerged as the Oba-elect of the Owu-Akinale Kingdom in Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State, following a rigorous and competitive selection process. 


His emergence marks a new chapter in the history of the community, which has long awaited a monarch to lead it into a new era of peace and development.

Chief Adediran, who also serves as the Secretary of the Owu Council of Chiefs, was confirmed by the Kingmakers on Tuesday, April 9, 2025. 


The selection process, which adhered strictly to traditional and legal procedures, was said to be thorough and inclusive, involving key stakeholders and representatives from the royal families.


Speaking with newsmen on Wednesday, Chief Adediran expressed deep appreciation to the Kingmakers, elders, and the people of Owu-Akinale for the confidence reposed in him.


He pledged to use his reign to foster peace, promote unity, and drive sustainable development in the community.


“As Oba-elect, I am deeply committed to promoting community cohesion, advancing local development, and ensuring that the voices of our people are heard and respected,” he said. 


“This is not just a personal honour, but a call to serve with integrity, compassion, and dedication.”


He also emphasized the need for inclusivity and cooperation among all sons and daughters of the land, both at home and in the diaspora. 



According to him, Akinale stands to benefit immensely when all hands are on deck to pursue common goals and shared prosperity.


The Oba-elect outlined his vision for the kingdom, which includes infrastructural development, youth empowerment, promotion of cultural tourism, and enhanced security. 


He noted that collaboration with government agencies and private sector partners would be key to achieving these goals.


The Oba-elect expressed his profound gratitude to His Royal Majesty, Oba Prof. Saka Adelola Matemilola, the Olowu of Owu Kingdom, and His Excellency, High Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR, for ensuring a fair and impartial selection process .



He commended their commitment to upholding the integrity of the traditional selection, allowing all candidates to participate in an unbiased and transparent manner.


Following the official confirmation, the Oba-elect and his team embarked on a tour across Akinale community to express gratitude to the people. 


Residents came out in numbers to welcome him with joy and excitement, as drums, songs, filled the air in celebration of his emergence.


After the appreciation visit, a strategic town hall meeting was held with key stakeholders and traditional leaders .
