Ogun State Government has ordered temporary closure of the historic Olumo Rock Tourist Complex beginning from Monday, April 14 , to pave way for a renovation and facelift of the site, as part of efforts to boost tourism and preserve cultural assets across the State
The State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Hon. Sesan Fagbayi who ordered the closure in a statement on Friday , obtained by journalists, stated that the development was part of a broader commitment of the Prince Dapo Abiodun's administration to revamp one of the most iconic tourist destinations, improve visitor’s experience and ensure safety measures during the renovation.
He explained that, Olumo Rock receives over 70,000 visitors annually which needs a befitting outlook, hence the reason for the renovation.
The State Government according to him, apologises to all tourists and the general public for any inconveniences the development may cause
He added that further updates would be communicated as work progresses.
