Grand Chief Imam of Egbaland, Sheikh Mohammed Sa'ad Bamgbola on Monday at the Central Eid Ground In Lantoro, Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital led Eid-el-Fitri two rakats prayer in deviant to the directive by the Sultan of Sokoto and President General of Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Alhaji Mohamed Sa'ad Abubakar
The Sultan had declared Sunday, 30th of March,2025 as the day for the celebration of Islamic festival after ending of Ramadan fasting for Muslims, following the sighting of moon in the country
But the Eid prayer failed to hold on Sunday at the Central Eid Ground, following contrary directive by League of Imams and Alfas in South-West, Nigeria who had earlier fixed date for the commencement and ending of fasting in the holy month of Ramadan, 1446 AH
Hundreds of worshippers were seen on Monday at the Central Eid Ground In Ogun State capital including prominent Muslim leader , Sheikh Iskil Muhammed Awwal popularly as "Sugar" who is the Consultant to the State Government on Islamic Affairs and Wakil Muslimeen of Yorubaland , Edo and Delta States, the Agba Akin of Egbaland, Rasheed Raji and the State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftancy Affairs, Hon.Ganiyu Hamzat
Governor Dapo Abiodun who was represented by Hon. Ganiyu Hamzat called for continuous prayers of Muslims community, saying their prayers have been responsible for the success of his administration in the past six years in the state
He also urged Muslim Clerics in the state to sustain their prayers for the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration to succeed in various economic reforms, so that the policies will yield the desired results for the economic benefits of Nigerians
Governor Abiodun expressed his administration's appreciation for the support given so far by the Muslim community in the state
Chief Imam of Egbaland Sheikh Mohammed Sa'ad Bamgbola urged Muslims to continue to imbibe moral values and lessons of the holy month of Ramadan in their daily activities for them to reap more spiritual rewards from Allah here on earth in Al-janah
