In order to introduce and integrate the newly invented sport games called Eyethrow and focus Ball into schools in Ogun State, Eye throw Ball Association of Nigeria on Thursday, organized a train the trainers on the rudiment of the newly invented sports.
At the training exercise held at Our lady of Apostles Primary school,Oke - ilewo, Abeokuta,sports teachers from the three senatorial districts in Ogun State, undergone on the field and tutorial aspects of the eye throw and eye focus games.
In an interview with Newslife sport reporter, the inventor of the games, Deacon Banjo Omole said that God gave him the vision about the new games in 2014 and he has taken the game round Lagos, Ogun, Redeem Camps and Conventions. He described the game as an interesting one and urged Nigerians to embrace it.
" We can introduce it to the Olympics. They are new games. It is a focus that God gave me. It is not that I am a professional sport person. In 2014, I heard the voice of God. We are moving the sports from Local Governments to States and to the National level.
"Tall and average height persons can play it. The young ones, the elderly. It can be played professionally indoor and outdoor. It is a new game in the entire world, you goggle it, you cannot find it anywhere . it is God given. Whatever God has given will go places .We are hopeful that it will become international games.
"It involves from 4 to 20O people. It takes the youth out of vices. You bounce the ball, you move and you score in front of the steel equipment. The other one is called Eye Focus Ball like Basketball but not entirely Basketball that is played by Tall people. This one can be played by any one, the young ones: Tall or Short. You score through the holes which we created called Gesha and fotti.
Explaining further, the inventor said,"Eye throw Ball can be played by 1 person or a team of 4. Each team has 10 attempts to net the ball.Each ball in the net gets 2 points. A player can get maximum of 20 points and a team of 4 players can get maximum of 80 points,
While, the Eye focus is an advanced game of Eye throw Ball, it is played by two team of 5 players each with aim of netting the ball to earn points.We are trying to create our local intelligence into it .That is part of what we are doing".
On acceptability of the games, Deacon Omole stated that the it has been interesting and wherever the games are taken , people loved it. adding that it is encouragement and sponsorship that are needed.
"We need to send all the equipment to the LGs, States and federal so that we can integrate it into our national sport profile and by the time we introduce it to the Olympics, being new games invented by Nigerian for Nigeria, we will be having our goals achieved and perfected.We should not allow outsiders to come and take glory out of our own space. He stated.
