The Olowu of Owu , Oba ( Prof.) Saka Adelola Matemilola , on Wednesday joined other league of supporters of Nigeria Union Journalists in Ogun state , as he donated and installed six solar powered lights to the council .
The lighting facility which comprise of three solar power poles lights and three solar flood lights were donated and installed by the monarch in fulfilment of his promise to the council.
The Olowu , on the 12th of February , 2025 , at a media parley with Ogun NUJ members , promised to donate solar power lights to complement the council's current leadership in checkmating insecurity in the area.
Elated with the journalists' efforts in the nation building process at the media parley , the Owu traditional ruler also promised to donate a befitting two entrance doors to the 23-year-old hall , constructed and donated to the council by former Ogun state governor , Aremo Olusegun Osoba.
Inspecting the installed lighting facilities on behalf of the Olowu of Owu , the Oyega of Owu kingdom , Chief Adelanii Adebayo , promised to inform the monarch of the need to donate and install additional two solar power flood lights to be positioned at the main entrance of the secretariat.
According to him , the Owu monarch , harped on quick delivery of the projects , saying the monarch is not only keeping to his promise but also ensuring quick delivery of his projects.
He said" Kabiyesi hates projects to be delivered very late and he is a kind of person that always fulfil any promise he made to people , no matter how huge they are"
"If he (Oba Matemilola) promise people , consider it done . He told me(Oyega) that it is been long he(Oba Matemilola) announced the solar lights and the entrance gates to to the council's hall to the journalists . It looks irritating and embarrassing to him to allow his promises or projects to be dragged before fulfilling them "Chief Oyega added.
Responding after the solar powered lights project was delivered on Wednesday , the Chairman , Nigeria Union of Journalists , Ogun State Council , Comrade Wale Olanrewaju , expressed appreciation to the Olowu for keeping to his promise within a very shortest time .
Saying the project was very dear to the council's current leadership , the Ogun NUJ chairman , pointed out that Kabiyesi has made an indelible mark in ensuring growth and development of the council.
He called on other philanthropists in the state to identify with Ogun NUJ in transforming the council and ensuring well being of its members.
