Ogun State Institute of Technology, Igbesa, is set to graduate 9320 students as part of its 6th Convocation ceremony.
The Institute's Rector, Dr. Abiodun Babatunde Oluseye disclosed this to Journalists during a Press Conference held on Monday at the School Conference room.
Dr. Oluseye hinted that 178 students will bagged distinctions, while 2,138 will be graduating with upper credits.
Relishing the achievements of OGITECH despite the enormous challenges he met on ground, Dr. Oluseye expressed gratitude to Gov. Dapo Abiodun, Deputy Rector, and Acting Chairman, Evangelist Kehinde Akinsoji and members of Governing Council.
"This is the first convocation since my assumption of office some one and a half years ago. It is a moment to reflect over the Institute in the last one and a half years, and to appreciate God for what He has used the administration to achieve in the Institute within that period.
"When I assumed duties as the third substantive Rector of the Ogun State Institute of Technology on the 28th of August, 2023, the first experience was challenging and numbing. The Institute’s land was under siege from land grabbers, there were serious shortage of funds, scary energy bills, unpaid salary and promotion arrears, concern of obsolete curricula, infrastructural deficit, shortage of staff, almost comatose health centre, major buildings not connected to the public power source, 17 courses overdue for the accreditation of the National Board for Technical Education and the need to present 10 additional ones to the body for approval.
" In addition to all these, both the gate and the road into the Institute did not befit its status as a higher institution of learning in the 21st century. The experience was so overwhelming that the question was where to start from as against which one to attend to first. With the insight of God, the help of the highly supportive Governor of Ogun State, Prince (Dr) Dapo Abiodun, and the ever committed Governing Council, under the esteemed leadership of the Ag. Chairman, Evangelist Kehinde Akinsoji, the story has changed tremendously. But this is just the beginning.
Relishing the attainments,Dr.Oluseye stated "achievements Two days from Wednesday, 26th of February, 2025, the Institute has concluded all the arrangements to graduate 9,320 students. Of that number, 178 have distinctions, while 2,138 have upper credits. This is a testament of what the administration has been able to do with the challenge it met on ground at its inception. Between my assumption of office on that August 28, 2023, and July 27, 2024, the accreditation of 29 programmes were renewed while additional ten were successfully approved by the NBTE, bringing the total number of the programmes offered by the Institute from 38 to 46 fully accredited ones.
