...Police commence investigation to unravel circumstances leading to his death
Police in Ogun State have commenced investigation to unravel the mysterious circumstances under which an 82-year-old man left home, only for his lifeless body to be found in the forest.
The deceased, Muritala Raimi, who resided at Ilero Village, Atikori in Ijebu-Igbo, was declared missing on Wednesday, January 8, via a complaint lodged at Ijebu-Igbo Division by one Jimoh Salau.
Jimoh, who was accompanied to the station by one Muibi Popoola, both from the same village with the late octogenarian, said he was his uncle, stating that all efforts to locate him proved abortive.
According to Jimoh, “We have virtually searched known places, reached out to other relatives and friends without positive clues”.
Sadly, the complainant further hinted that, a day after, precisely on Thursday, January 9, the decomposing corpse of the victim was found in the Lukaran Forest in Atikori by a hunter.
The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), CSP Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident to Newslife saying, “Efforts are being made to recover the decomposing corpse and added that the case is under investigation.
