kidnappers Flee, abandon victims as Police foil plan in Ogun

 



Operatives of the Nigeria Police, Ogun state command have foiled a kidnapping attempt of a six man gang, who abducted two victims in different locations in Ogun state on Thursday.

According to a statement from the office of the state command's Spokesperson, SP Omolola Odutola, the divisional Police Officer,DPO, of Owode Egba Division,on Thursday at about 3:00pm received a distress call reporting the kidnapping of an 80- year-old Odesanya Rufus from Owode Egba and  Oluwaseyi Olajide , a resident of Mango,Oke Ata, Abeokuta at Edun Village Junction.

The swift action of the Police operatives with the collaboration of the local hunters,who pursued the six kidnappers armed with various weapons such as rifles and cutlasses, paid off,as the police succeeded in blocking the escape routes and confined the criminals to known security check points.

Realizing that the Police had foiled their plans, the kidnappers fled the scene,and abandoned the two hostages.




A pump action rifle was recovered at the location, while the police has intensified efforts to arrest the escaped kidnappers.
