Owu Kingdom, Abeokuta, Mourns the Passing of Akogun Chief Isola Akinsipo

The Akogun of Owu kingdom, Chief Isola Akinsipo is dead.

Chief Akinsipo,a traditional and cultural icon was a renowned Television broadcaster during his life time.

The Late Akogun who combined reading of Yoruba News with a regular ombudsman programme on Ogun State Television,OGTV, was announced to have passed on Tuesday, October,15,2024 by the Orunto Owu kingdom, Chief Abiodun Lasile. The Statement reads"It  is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our esteemed Chief Raobil Isola Akinsipo, the Akogun of Owu Kingdom, Abeokuta, on Tuesday, October 15, 2024. In keeping with Islamic traditions, Chief Akinsipo was laid to rest the same day.


"On behalf of Alayeluwa, Oba Prof. Saka Matemilola, Oluyalo Otileta VII, Olowu of Owu Kingdom, we extend our heartfelt tribute to Chief Akinsipo’s remarkable life and enduring legacy. As a distinguished leader, he embodied exceptional service and dedication to humanity.


"Chief Akinsipo served the Owu Kingdom in various capacities, including as the Head of Iwarefa Owu. He was a seasoned broadcast practitioner, a Yoruba language specialist, an insurance consultant, and a traditionalist.


"His unwavering commitment to service, profound wisdom, and significant contributions to the Owu Kingdom have left an irreplaceable void in our community.


"We pray that his soul rests in perfect peace and that Chief Akinsipo's legacy continues to inspire generations. May his memory be forever blessed".
