Nigerian Army Troops demonstrated valor and determination in a series of operations across Kogi, Anambra, and Nasarawa States, rescuing kidnapped victims, neutralizing threats, and quelling attacks, showcasing their unwavering commitment to national security and citizen safety.
In Kogi State, a distress call led troops to Ogugu Community along the Enugu-Kogi Road, where armed kidnappers had intercepted a Peace Mass Transit Bus, abducting passengers en route from Calabar to Abuja. Acting swiftly, troops engaged the kidnappers in a fierce firefight, ultimately compelling them to release their captives from the nearby Ette forest. The successful rescue operation, executed with precision and valor, ensured the safe return of 10 passengers and dealt a blow to criminal elements threatening public safety.
Meanwhile, in Oguta, Anambra State, troops launched a clearance operation targeting IPOB/ESN enclaves in Egbuoma/Osiam. Facing determined resistance, the troops displayed unwavering resolve, neutralizing one terrorist and seizing valuable assets, including a Mercedes Benz 350 4matic, from the insurgents' camp. The operation, marked by meticulous planning and resolute action, underscored the military's commitment to rooting out destabilizing forces and restoring peace in the region.
In a separate development, troops in Nasarawa State responded swiftly to an attack on Katakpa village by the Bassa militia group, preventing further bloodshed and chaos. Despite facing adversity, the troops conducted a decisive counterattack, repelling the assailants and securing the village. During the operation, they recovered a cache of weapons, including AK-47 rifles, G3 rifles, and ammunition, further incapacitating the hostile group and safeguarding the local population.
Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations, lauded the troops' exemplary courage and dedication, emphasizing the Nigerian Army's unwavering commitment to protecting citizens and preserving national security. He affirmed that the military would continue to conduct proactive operations to eliminate threats, restore law and order, and ensure the safety and well-being of all Nigerians.
