The Nigeria Union of Journalists, Ogun State Council, has appealed the State Governor,Prince Dapo Abiodun to fulfill his promises to the council as the year 2023 draws to an end.
This form part of the council communique at the end of its monthly congress held at the Counci',s Secretariat, Iwe- Iroyin Hall, Oke-ilewo, Abeokuta , made available to journalists by the council's Scribe, Comr.Bunmi Adigun.
The council reminded the governor of his promises to by commencing renovation of Osoba Hall at the council's Secretariat, Oke-ilewo, Construction of modern events Center at the Union's permanent site, as well as allocation and release of land for the first Journalists Estate as his administration plan for the 2024 fiscal year and appointment of two of its members as Special Assistants.
Recall that Gov. Abiodun had promised to appoint two members of the council as Special Assistants in his administration when he visited the Secretariat. The two slots was approved for Comrade James Sowole ( This Day Newspaper Correspondent) and Comrade Kazeem Olowr( TVC) by the Congress.
The Congress also commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for the peace of the state, especially during the Match 18th Governorship poll, tribunal sittings and eventual judgement, the outcome of the Appeal Court Judgement and the Governor 's magnanimity in victory.
Part of the Communique also reads,"The union expressed sadness over the death of Governor Rotimi Akerredolu of Ondo State after a protracted battle with prostrate cancer. The Congress therefore commiserate with Gov. Dapo Abiodun on the sad incident, describing Arakunrin Akeredolu as a fighter of Democracy.
"As the year 2024 winds down, the council appreciated all its supporters both individuals and Corporate bodies who had assisted the council and it's affiliate associations during the year.
"The Union charged members to conduct themselves as worthy professionals in discharging their duties,; it also demanded decent treatment of Journalists in the course of carting out their lawful duty.
"The Union commended the immediate past Nigerian High Commissioner to United Kingdom, Sarafs Tunji - Ishola for his promise to build a new news room to be named after Late Professor Lai Oso.
"The Union also lauded former Youth and Sports Commissioner, Chief Bulola Olopade for his promise to donate a Kia Saloon car to the Council"
The Communique was chaired by Comrade Seyi Ipadeoka of Root FM, Saheed Adeola of Fresh FM as Secretary and Federated Chapel's Idris Oderinde as member.
