FUNERAL: LATE ADENIYI SANNI'S THREE CHILDREN BECOME SEN. ADEOLA'S OWN, AS HE RAISES N55M FOR THEIR EDUCATION,TO TAKE CARE OF DECEASED'S AGED MOTHER ON MONTHLY BASIS

How we killed him:

Speaking with journalists, one of the suspects, Fred, an indigene of Lagos State, revealed how Sani was killed.

He said: “I am from Lagos Island. At 11.30p.m., Segun spotted the car and alerted us. Lucky was putting on a military uniform and cap. He also held a torch light. We stopped the car and I walked to the other side and asked the man to show me the customs documents.

He started making a call but I didn’t know who exactly he was talking to. He said the document was inside the car.

“He started shouting, asking what else we wanted since he had given us the particulars. He started shouting for help and at the same time, shouting ‘thief’.

“He came out of the car and started running. I fired two bullets from my gun. Lucky also shot at him and the man fell.
“Segun and I pulled him into the back seat and we drove off. Yet, he kept shouting. Segun, who sat with him at the back stabbed him with a knife in the chest. I asked why he did that because the plan was not to kill him. We dropped his body by the road and drove to the border town of Chikunda in Kwara State, from where we called Alhaji.

“He sent someone who passed us through the border into the Benin Republic. We negotiated N3 million for the car, but Alhaji told us to drop the vehicle and leave, with a promise to send money to us the next time we brought another vehicle. But he never made the payment until we were arrested.

Mournful  Chairman of Senate Committee on Appropriation, Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has adopted the three children of his slained aide, Mr.Adeniyi Oluwatosin Sanni.

Consequently, Senator Adeola has raised the sum of N55m from some of his colleagues in the Senate and his other associates towards the education of the deceased aide’s children.

Sanni was killed on August 5, 2023 after he had an alleged encounter with some unidentified security agents in military uniform at a check point in the Ojodu- Berger area of Ikeja. His bullet-riddled body was later found along the Oshodi-Apapa Expressway where it was dumped by his killers.

Senator Adeola, who spoke through the Director General of his campaign organization in Lagos, Barrister Babatunde Raji-Label, during Sanni’s funeral at the RCCG RHEMA CHAPEL, Redemption Camp, Mowe, Ogun State, announced the adoption of Moraraoluwa, Oluwashindara and Oluwafeyidara Sanni as his children henceforth.

The lawmaker also disclosed that the welfare of late Sanni’s aged mother and immediate family members will be catered to by him on a monthly basis.

“It impossible for me to find a replacement for Niyi. He is my blood and a dedicated aide of almost two decades. I am greatly grieved by his unwarranted death. As a father figure to him, I had to stay away from his funeral as tradition demands” Raji-Label stated at the funeral on behalf of Senator Adeola.

The lawmaker also further disclosed that a Trust fund he established with donations and contributions from his pp friends, associates and colleagues in the National Assembly had yielded N55million within one week.

He added that the fund had been applied to pay for the deceased aide children’s education in their current schools with adjustment for increases for the next six to 10 years of their education.

The lawmaker thanked all those who commiserated with him and members of his late aide’s family, praying that God Almighty will grant everyone the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

Pastor Gbenga Odunowo of the Young Adult and Youth Church of RCCG RHEMA CHAPEL delivered the sermon at the funeral, stressing that only our good works while still alive mattered most.

He noted that the testimonies about the late Sanni were enough indications to his good works and deeds while alive.

The cleric therefore urged everyone not to cease in doing good while still alive and accept Jesus Christ as their saviour to ensure the salvation of their souls.

Senator Adeola’s associates and friends from Lagos and Ogun, including Hon. Adekunle Adesina, Hon. Babatunde Olaotan, Pastor Kenny Jones, Mrs. Funmi Efuwape, Hon. Dr. Babatunde Adejare and several others attended the late Sanni’s funeral service.
