As the this year egungun festival of the people of Gbagura kingdom in Abeokuta North Local Government Area of Ogun State wind up with the glamorous outing of the father of the masquerades in the Gbagura kingdom popularly called Gbogi, the Oderinde descendants of Offa in Oja Agbo Area also celebrated the outing of Alaseboro Masquerade with aplomb.
At the event held at the family compound on Sunday, thousands of the noble descendants from far and near were on ground to offer libations, gifts and as well as to receive prayers from the Masquerade.
Great, great-great grandsons, daughters,grand children and people of Oja Agbo Community and drummers in joyous mood followed the Alaseboro Masquerade round the axis as the masquerade went round visiting abodes of past bearers to offer libations and prayers.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Head of the family, Chief Kolawole Oderinde said the celebration of the family Masquerade, Alaseboro, one of well known masquerades in all the nook and cranny of Egbaland, served as a medium of recalling and paying homage to our departed forefathers
He added that the celebration of the masquerade also served as a rallying point for the Oderinde descendants to see and further know each other , so as to further strengthen family bonds.
"All the prayers offered by Alaseboro by the grace of God have been answered,just look at the signs, the weather was friendly and few moments that Alaseboro returned to Igbale, the traditional enclave, the heaven opens up and it rained peacefully" he concluded
In their separate remarks, Mr. Ajibola Gafar Oderinde, Hon.Isiaka Oderinde and Chief Musibau Olalekan Oderinde, enjoined all members of the family to see the celebration as a tradition that is devoid of fetishism but one that serves as medium to show gratitude to God and our forbearers through libations and prayers.
