Concerned group in Ogun State has called on attention of Ogun state Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun to follow due process in the selection and appointment of a substantive rector for the State's Polytechnic of Health and Allied Sciences, ilede Ijebu.
Convener of the group, Mathew Olanipekun, said the appointment of a rector with the requisite qualifications will place the Institute position globally.
He said"Mr.Governor,as well as the governing Council, should abstain from issue that may lead to acrimony as justice must be done to the most qualified out of the three nominated applicants who performed creditably in the just concluded interview.
'Appointing the most qualified out of the shortlisted applicants will add glamour and attract necessary developmental attention to the Institution.
'Subverting the qualified person for the rectorship position may not augur well for the State's first tertiary institution and a foremost specialised Polytechnic in the country,due process must be followed.
"It will be out of place to appoint a Master Degree holder as a substantive Rector in fragrant disregard of the advert for the position when a qualified PhD holders who applied and performed creditably are on ground " he concluded.
