Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, on Monday, inaugurated a 16-man Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the 22nd National Sports Festival to be hosted by the state in 2024.
The committee is headed by Bukola Olopade, a Sports enthusiast and former Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development in the State.
Abiodun, while inaugurating the committee, noted that sporting activities are not only a source of entertainment but also a powerful tool for youth development and empowerment.
He added that, “The upcoming National Sports Festival in 2024 presents a unique opportunity for us to showcase our state’s athletic prowess and rich sporting heritage.
“Our administration is committed to supporting the committee wholeheartedly, providing the necessary resources, assistance and guidance to ensure a successful and memorable event.
“We look forward to witnessing the enthusiasm and passion that this event will ignite among our people, and our local economy.”
Earlier in his response, the LOC Chairman, Bukola Olopade commended Governor Abiodun for bidding and winning the right to host a successful National Sports Festival.
He acknowledged Governor Abiodun for being the first governor in the country to ensure that all the State athletes at the last National Sports Festival in Delta State went home with cash rewards irrespective of winning or losing.
