Unspecified numbers of Abeokuta based Market women,and Petty entrepreneurs have lost their investment to Digital loan scheme scammers.
The attention of Ogun State Police Command was drawn On Tuesday, 20th June 2023 to an outcry from Oke Itoku market women, traders, and petty entrepreneurs when they gathered in an unspecified number in a rowdy manner and started raising alarm over their purported investment.
Their outrage propelled the Divisional Police officer Oke-Itoku CSP Hadiza Abu Oganyi to swiftly swing into action to ascertain the rancorous situation.
The verifiable incident was a case of Digital Loan Company, known as Legend Empowerment Services a yet to be ascertained kind of loan company if they are legally registered with Corporate Affairs Commission, but discreet investigations will unravel their modus operandi.
From a scanty information before the Divisional Police officer, below is the manner the complainants invested their monies. One Morenikeji Ogunniyi “f” invested #48,000 ,Abosede Aremu “f” #45,000 , Idiatu Adeogun “f” #31,000 and Saheed Sufian “m” were among the investors that patronized Legend Empowerment Services with their juicy offer of multiplying their categories of investment like offering the above named complainants with #50,000 for anyone who deposited #8,000 and #100,000 for anyone who deposited #16,000 in three weeks.
These offers excited the victims and they jumped into the offers without any form of verification from the Ogun State Police. Although, the alleged suspects who are employees of Legend Empowerment Services are in police custody undergoing interrogations.
Preliminary investigation exposed Legend Empowerment Services to have employed one Adedayo Omolola “f” verberlly without a formal contract of employment and the same thing with one Adedayo Tosin “m” who only recently got employed by Legend Empowerment Services two weeks ago ,but omolola has been in the supposedly employment since two months and she has received two months salary.
When she was asked about her designation in the Loan company she replied that she is a secretary and that they are about six other staff in the employment of the company as marketers, but Adedayo Tosin “m” is their supervisor.
While revealing further to the police,they stated that the dividends of the loan will mature on Friday 23rd of June 2023, on account of the market women and traders.
The owner of Legend Empowerment Services one Lawal Akinwale “m” was contacted on phone, but his number is suspected to have been restricted on flight mode and consequently not reachable. As soon as the Police gets across to him, he will be invited for questioning to narrate his side of the story.

There are other online loan services that clone themselves as real whereas they are setup to defraud unsuspecting members of the public, they are becoming more complicated and controversial, however the case maybe ,the Ogun State police Command assures of proper verification.
The Ogun State Police Command is hereby advising the good people of Ogun State not to fall for digital lenders, online loan Schemes, and money doublers who perform instant promissory payment on unattainable interest rates.
The above case is particularly significant and will be used as a case study to further investigate the veracity of these illegal flourishing “419” Digital Loan Services.
The Ogun State Police Command will continue to assist members of the public to sanitize and purge the system of criminality. Members of the public and interested parties are hereby entreated to support and cooperate with the investigation team while the instant case is under review please.
