OGUN AGROPRENEUR PLANTS TREES,DONATES 1000 SEEDLINGS TO SCHOOL

 

 



Ogun State based Agropreneur, Mr. Ayopo Somefun has donated 1,000 seedlings of 14 species of fruits to the federal Science and Technical College,Itamogori, ijebu - imushin.

Somefun, who also planted trees in the school premises to ward off effects of whirlwind, ensure beautification of the environment among others, made the donations on Wednesday at the school Premises as part of activities to mark his 52nd birthday.

Speaking at the occasion held on Wednesday in the school premises, the celebrant said that her daughter who is a student of the college has been complaining of regular whirlwind as a result of too many open spaces and uncultivated farm lands in the school,

He added that this prompted him to seek the consent of the school authority to plant the trees and seedlings donation.

"The trees, if well nurtured will serve as climate change control, erosion control, beautiful of the school environment while the seedlings will serve multiple benefits of food and multivitamins for inhabitants, endear the wards to cash crop farming.

" I enjoin other parents to also look around and make impact on the school and lives of our wards as government alone cannot do it all"he stated.

In his remarks at the tree planting/ seedlings presentation, Director and Principal of the college, Mr.Abdulsalam Usman kpatako who expressed   gratitude to the celebrant said " I am delighted and happy that a parent can think so much about the school, we were thinking of looking for how to beautify  the school and plant trees, when Mr Somefun cane to seek the consent of the school authority to do this for us

"We will not fail to nurture and take good care of it all".

The fruits presented include; orange, lemon, lime, Tangalo,Tangerine, Pick Grape, Sour sop,Noni, Guava, Mango, Avocado pear, cherry, Coconut and Pawpaw seedlings.

Present at the occasion were the four Vice Principals, members of  Management committee , PTA executives, school Prefects, daughter of the donor, Esther Semilore, staff and students of the college.
